Lois Kay Nelson Mellor Black's Obituary



Mt. Pleasant - Funeral services will be at noon today, March 16 in the Ursenbach Funeral Home, 96 North 100 West, for Lois Kay Nelson Mellor Black, 96, who died March 12, 1994, at Canyon Hill Nursing Home in Nephi Utah.


She was born Sept 19, 1897, in Mona, Utah to Isaac and Hulda Ellertson Kay. She married Evan Leslie Nelson on Oct 11, 1917, in Nephi, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Oct 27, 1929. She married Wells Mellor on Jun 21, 1935, in Manti, Utah. they were later divorced. She married LeRoy Black on Aug 31, 1960 in Ely, Nevada. He died May 24 1978.


She was a member of the LDS Church and was a visiting teacher until three years ago. She enjoyed Mormon history and served three terms as captain of the Hambleton Camp Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She spent Much of her time with her granddaughter Jeannie Christiansen's family.


Survivors include: Sister, Cora Kesler, Provo, Utah; Sons: Leslie Nelson, Hurricane Utah, and Monte Nelson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Step son: Willard Black, Spring City, Utah; 15 Grandchildren; 42 Great Grandchildren; and 11 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Milton K. Nelson and John K. Mellor, and daughters, Fern and Eva May Nelson.


Viewing will be held at 11:00 A.M. prior to services and burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant, Utah Cemetery.
