All of these families joined the group sent by President Brigham Young to strengthen the settlements in Sanpete, which struggling for existence under occasional raids by unfriendly Indians. The wars in Utah County led by Chief Walker had involved these men who served to defend the settlements, there is seem that Niels B. and Philip B. had arrived on the site of the new Town of Mount Pleasant in April 1859. This was operated until 1866. We here do not have the date as to when the Eilertsens moved into the neighboring town of Spring City, also resettled in 1859, but Ward Records of the Church, from Minute Book accounts, we learn the brother was a member of the Twenty Second Quorum of Seventies and John Eilertsen, was in attendance of his Priesthood Quorum Meetings. one of them dated Dec 1863 at Spring City, Sanpete Stake.

On 26 Nov 1900 the loved wife and mother Gertrude passed away. Johns friend, Borresen, now living in Spring City, had lost his wife, Anniken, who had an unmarried daughter, Mary Christena B. and John wrote for her to come to Mona and keep house for him, this she did immediately.
